Good morning! I have been so distracted by the setting up of my scrap-blog that I have been forgetting to update this one, sorry!! The other one is more complicated as it is in blogspot……"out, damm spot!" (I’ve been known to cry at times), and requires totally different skills to get it full of my scraps! Anyway, with the brilliant technical help and input from Ineke, I actually managed to get a photo bucket slide-show on there……..took all day but hey, I did it!!!! So the link to this other blog o’ mine is:
www.paperladyscraps.blogspot.com Hope you visit it and let me know what you think!
So, what have we been doing lately? Taking it easy is not the answer! Peter’s mother fell in her bathroom and had to lie there overnight, last Saturday, but she escaped serious injury thank goodness, and is now feeling fine again. She is 88, so it was very worrying for a while. Saskia has had her plaster removed from her hand and her thumb just hangs…not good. She needs physiotherapy for 3 weeks ( I’d suggest an OT as well, but who am I?) and then they will take an echo and see what is happening to her nerves etc. What bad luck she seems to have had!!! Peter is going for a massage this morning. Our hairdresser, Marloes, knows so many people, and when she was here this week she told us about the guy she is seeing for her shoulders. He was superb according to Marloes, so Peter made an appointment immediately and we will see how it goes today. He is not keen to see the guy about his breathing – my guess is he doesn’t believe that will work – so at least this might help him relax. And his holiday is coming up in another week so all good!
Becci and Roy are in London at the moment for a Marxist Rally. Yes, what can I tell you? Her boyfriend is a green political activist who wants to work for the UN in the future, so Becs is going along with him to her first rally! They are there for 5 days, and actually I think she will enjoy the experience of sleeping on floors, not being able to wash, listening to folk go on about their political views etc, music and generally slumming it in central London!! She has been a vegetarian for 7 weeks already, and is not buying so many clothes etc now she believes in saving Mother Earth, so maybe it is all good..? I am looking forward to meeting this young man when we go to England! He does sound more interesting than the other lads she has had as boyfriends and she is pretty keen on this one. Only hope it lasts when he goes to university..
Ah well, busy with the scrapping etc now all it does all day is rain! Went with Tim to buy him some trendy gear with his own money from his work this week – just waiting to get a photo of him all dolled up! Cost a bomb so glad he knows what he needs to save for in the future if this is what he wants to wear! He looks really great in them too, and he is growing up so fast, still mad keen on joining the army too. Don’t think that will change anymore so might as well get used to the idea. Must be in his blood!
So, my homesickness continues to grow. This year is my 7th in Holland and I have got the 7-year itch I think! Anyway, I am going to England more times this year than ever before so I suppose there is a need for it. I am unsettled deep down in my heart if I am honest, and for tuppence would go back home tomorrow! It is not that I am unhappy here or anything, but it is not my home and never will be, and I miss it very much. It is not something one can put one’s finger on, or describe or say precisely what it is, this feeling of dis-placement, but it is there and it is growing. I’m not sure what I should do about it other than ensure I get plenty of opportunities to go home regularly and see my friends more often, and just keep in touch with all that I hold dear. Maybe if I find a job I enjoy and get a sense of purpose back into my life it would be easier………we’ll see!
And on that note I will go and do the shopping! I lost 8 kilo’s with my diet and am now trying to keep it off or lose some more but that involves following a weekly menu and THAT involves shopping!!!
